Keeping with the wedding tradition of “something borrowed,” Princess Kate Middleton wore a Cartier halo tiara on her wedding day. The beautiful tiara was lent to Kate from the Queen.

The tiara is a family heirloom, created in 1936 and purchased by King George VI (Duke of York at the time) for his wife — Elizabeth (mother of Queen Elizabeth).
Queen Elizabeth received the diamond tiara from her mom as an 18th birthday present.
